So Valentine’s is coming up and the advertisements are all around to let us know. I myself was bombarded by Valentine’s day when I went into my local Tesco to buy some hot chocolate. I went to the aisle where I normally find it and that’s when I realised that the whole of the opposite aisle had been turned into an aisle for Valentine’s. Afterwards, I found myself thinking about Valentine’s with complete peace regarding my singleness.
Sometimes, we forget that we have improved in an area until we’re confronted with that which would have previously bothered us. I remember thinking “Huh? I’m in peace, I used to struggle with this”. I was surprised by my hopeful expectancy regarding my future season whilst being content with my present one. I remember in 2011 Valentine’s, I based my whole entire identity on having a Valentine. I thought I had made it in life and I remember basing my worth and value from that. Little did I know that I was a broken girl Continue reading “Don’t compromise this Valentine’s”
Today is the 2nd of February 2017. Do you all know what that means??? It has officially been a year since I started My Heart’s Cry !! *whoop whoop*
I know for someone else, one year might not be anything and in the grand scheme of things, it isn’t much. However for me, it’s a testament of the faithfulness and sustaining power of God! When I first started, I really was fearful. I felt like I had to be perfect before I could start anything like this. God really had to show me that He can continue to mend and encourage me simultaneously whilst He uses me to mend and encourage others. That’s what makes my heart just melt… God is so faithful.

I have something to confess. A few months ago, I was scared to enter 2017. I don’t know how 2016 was for you but for me, I know it was a trying year. It has been a year where the unexpected happened. One of my immediate family members was diagnosed with cancer and then later cleared (glory to God), I spent my birthday this year in a hospital, depression tried to knock on my door numerous times, lost some friends on the way and experienced rejection in a new way. Whilst 2016 did have some great times, it came with unexpected circumstances and in addition to this, certain things which I was believing for didn’t come to pass.
Has He forgotten me?
As I got to around September this year, I began to really reflect on the last few years of my life and how they’ve been. I began to think about how different 2016 had been in comparison to how I thought it would be and then I began to consider if 2017 would be Continue reading “Why 2017 no longer scares me”
Romans 8:28- And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
The account of what happened to Joseph in the Bible is a very well known one. Joseph was the second to youngest of his siblings and was greatly loved by his father. His brothers were jealous of the relationship he had with his father and thus sold him into slavery. Initially, he was put in a position of authority under Potiphar however Potiphar’s wife got him arrested by falsely accusing him of trying to sleep with her. This caused Joseph to be put into prison but God gave him the ability to interpret dreams. It was this gift that eventually brought him before Pharaoh who then brought him out of prison and gave him the position of being second in command under Pharaoh.
Joseph spent around 13 years in prison altogether. Can you imagine being sold into slavery at the hands of your brothers and the thing is, most of his brothers initially wanted him dead. Joseph was extremely mistreated but his perspective on his mistreatment and pain is what stands out to me.

2 Chronicles 20:20-24 So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.”21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:“Praise the Lord, For His mercy endures forever.”22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. 23 For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another. 24 So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped.
In this thing called life, we will experience various battles. The battle may be concerning our health, our faith, our mind, our salvation and so on and so forth; the possibilities are endless. In the midst of the battle it feels extremely hard to praise God. Continue reading “Your praise is a weapon”
Genesis 3:6-9: So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”
In Genesis 3 Adam and Eve sinned and ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. When they sinned their natural reaction was to cover themselves with fig leaves. What do fig leaves represent? Fig leaves come from the earth and represent the flesh and false righteousness. Prior to this even though physically they were naked, spiritually the glory of God was their garment and their identity. Continue reading “Where Are You?”
Exodus 33:9-11 And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle, that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses. 10 All the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the tabernacle door, and all the people rose and worshipped, each man in his tent door. 11 So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.
Moses had an intimacy with God that many would describe as extraordinary. In Exodus 33 we see how Moses would position himself in a place of solitude to have time with God and God would speak to Moses face to face as a man speaks to a friend. What does this even look like? This is a question many have asked themselves in relation to emotional healing. We hear that God can heal our souls but we often look at our wounds caused by life experiences and question this reality. Some of us have been through abuse, rape, failed relationships, disappointment and other things that have left us broken. We muse on what we’ve heard about God’s healing power, we look at our broken states and think “God can you heal me? Am I beyond repair?” Being transparent it’s a question I have asked God many times. Continue reading “God can you heal me? Am I beyond repair?”
